Rotarians from around the capital district in New York rallied to raise over $5500. to acquire 340 new warm winter coats for children in Schoharie County who lost their belongings during the devastating floods after Tropical Storm Irene.
Working with their strategic partner, Operation Warm, one of the largest not for profits in the nation providing new winter coats for children, thirty-three Rotary clubs raised the money in a two-week period. Â This money was proportionately matched by the local Rotary District 7190 with a grant from The Rotary Foundation.
Next Wednesday, November 16th, Rotarians will travel to Cobleskill to present the coats and then travel on to Middleburgh, Sharon Springs, and Gilboa-Conesville schools to complete the distribution.
Rotary is a powerful community of people networking together locally and globally to help others. I’m happy to call myself a Rotarian.
